It was still raining, although not as much as yesterday. We had amazingly good pancakes (and got the recipe) for breakfast and decided not to hike around the lake. We didn’t want to get all wet again. Instead the hotel staff suggested we’d drive around the lake. That’s what we did. All in all a 90 minute drive with lots of beautiful sights. The lake (we could finally see it), waterfalls, the Hoh river, etc. A good scenic drive.
Because we wanted to go to Mount Reineer, and not get there too late, we decided to go there straight away. It took us a few hours. When we got to our preferred hotel, it turned out they were full. We checked Lonely Planet, made a few calls, and got a room in the Crystal Ski Resort. On the other side of Mt. Reineer… This was a transfer day anyway, so the 2 hours it took to get there were ok. It is just too bad we can’t see the mountain: low hanging clouds, rain, etc.
We checked in the Alpine Hill, a copy of an Austrian hotel, had dinner and headed straight for bed. Tomorrow we have another full day, with Mt Rainer and St Helens!
