New England Lighthouse
After driving a full day, we will stay in Portland today. Well, almost the entire day. This morning we were slow. Late breakfast, relaxing in our room, just enjoying holiday. But eventually we got in the car and drove to the coast to look at some lighthouses. Very nice! It was cold, but sunny. And then the coast looks amazing and the lighthouses are true landmarks.
After a short talk to some divers that got out of the water, we headed back to Portland for lunch. Yesterday, when we got back to Portland we saw another original diner. We decided to look for that diner again and have lunch there. We did find the diner, Miss Portland, and did have lunch here. The experience was not as good as the one in Salem, but it still was nice.
After lunch we walked around downtown Portland. But was sooooo cold. So we spend enough time at Starbucks, and going into every gallery and shop that was remotely interesting. Just to stay warm.
Dinner was another dining experience. Our ast evening in Portland we went to Hugo’s. A well known restaurant with good reviews. We both had the 5-course menu. It was really good, not as good as the White Barn Inn, but still way better that most restaurants in the US wehere he had dinner.
Portland is a nice town. But probably a lot nicer in the summer, when the temperatures are better and you can take various trips to many of the surrounding islands. We’ll be back sometime.
