It’s sunday today, so we’re taking it slow. We wanted to take the tour around the Icecream facility of Ben & Jerry’s, but since it is sunday there is no ice making and therefor the tour is supposed to be boring. So we’ll do this when we leave Stowe at the end of teh week.
Instead we used today for two things: get everything in place for skiing tomorrow, and go to the Rusty Nail….
First the skiing. We arranged lessons for 1 day: it had been 2 years, so it prbably doesn’t hurt do start 1 day with taking lessons. We drove to the ski area and learned that the Spruce Lodge is a new amazing place! Big, comfortable and not even too expensive. You can rent rooms there, or buy apartments. Oh well, we’ll just ski tomorrow.
Next we went to a few ski shops to look for skis. We want to rent them, but are considering buying skis, so we decided to do some shopping first. We ended up renting the skis from AJ’s . Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
For those of you that are interested: Karin rented K2 True Luv skis, and I rented K2 Apache Raider. Only one problem: temperatures were really high (>10 celcius) and it was raining all the time. Pooring down….The snow was being attacked real hard by the rain and the temperatures. Let’s hope the ski slopes will be ok enough to ski on tomorrow!
Now that the skiing was all taken care of: time for lunch!
And lunch was at The Rusty Nail. This is the bar where we planned to have our New Year’s Eve party a few years ago, but that all went wrong. This year we’ll try it again. We had lunch at the bar, while we watched the Patriots play the Bills.
After a couple of hours (Pats won, New Year’s Eve tickets bought, Lunch eaten), I dropped Karin off at the hotel. She wanted a nap and I wanted to go back to the Rysty Nail to watch another football game (to see if the Pats made it to the Playoffs). So that’s what we did. I sat at the bar watching the Jets loose (no Playoffs for the Pats), and talking to the bartender Mike and the manager Rob. I was starting to become a real regular 🙂 It was a real nice afternoon.
We hit our beds early, after a nice dinner at a Mexican place. Tomorrow we’ll ski!
