Stowe Inn & Tavern

Stowe Inn & Tavern

We said goodbye to our nice hosts at the Pomegranate Inn, and got ready for the long drive to Stowe. We decided to take a scenic route instead of the highways. This meant we would probably need 5 hours or more to get to Stowe. But the good thing about this: we got to see the beautiful countryside of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The trip took us though the wonderful lake district and we slowly started to see mountains.

The weather started to change today. It was no longer freezing, so snow was melting (good, because a lot of the roads we took today would otherwise not be as easy to drive on)  and later in the day it started to rain as well.
The downside: we want to ski!!! So please, raingod, stop! We want the snow to be still there when we are skiing.

Lunch was in Bethlehem. We figured that with Christmas and all, we had to stop in Bethlehem. Lunch was…ehh… not special. Let’s leave it at that.
And after our late lunch, we continued our way. And after a long but beautiful trip we finally arrived in Stowe. By now it was dark, so we couldn’t really see if there was still snow.

We checked into our hotel (the Stowe Inn & Tavern), and settled in the room for the next 6 days. The Stowe Inn is a nice place, nothing upscale, but really nice. We had a pizza at Pie in the Sky, and ended the day playing pool.
Tomorrow we plan to go to to Ben & Jerry’s, get our ski gear, arrange our lift tickets and ski lessons. Oh, and watch the Patriots, to see if they’ll make it to the playoffs.
